NEVER MISS Part 2: Simple but not easy

Deadlifting. I'm pretty committed to daily fitness, particularly strength training. For anyone that has spent time working out, you know what the deadlift exercise is and you probably don't like it. It's brutal. It will force your entire body, inside and outside, to work extremely hard. It can be done using light weights or heavy weights, but the results are always the same...exhaustion. The deadlift has incredible benefits developing a wide-variety of muscles while elevating the heart-rate and metabolism. Ironically, all the deadlift requires is to bend over and pick weight up off the floor. That's it. It is very SIMPLE, but it is not EASY.

I introduced the importance of resolve to a concept that I call 'never miss' in part 1 of this post. You can read that post here.

As I finalize the 'never miss' mantra with you, it's a lot like deadlifting; simple but not easy. Here are the simple but not easy steps to apply 'never miss' to your life.

PRE-DETERMINE  how important something is to you. This is a simple, yet very difficult thing to do because you have to be brutally honest with yourself. If you really want to accomplish something but you know that when you have to compare it to sleep, your taste buds, the busyness of life or a million other distractions it's going to lose that contest than you have to be willing to say to yourself, 'Sleep is more important to me than this area of my life.' If you can't be really honest with yourself, you won't make a 'never miss' commitment.

PLAN YOUR DAILY DISCIPLINE - Dwight Eisenhower is credited with a quote during World War II that I absolutely love recently. 'When it comes to war, plans are useless but planning is indispensable.' Eisenhower's point was the effort it takes to plan deepens commitment and fuels adaptability even when your plan falls apart. It is the planning that increases the likelihood you will meet your goal not the plan itself. How are you going to put time into this area of your life that you have deemed worthy? Make a very detailed plan that describes the day, dates, times, length of time, etc. that you will put into pursuing your goal. You may surprise yourself by how committed you are to sticking to your plan even when the details of it don't go according to the plan.

NEVER. MISS. - Now we've come full circle and maybe I violated the idea I tried to sell you on that this is simple but not easy by overly analyzing 'never miss'. Because at the end of all of this it still comes down to a simple, unyielding commitment. No matter how early you have to get up, no matter how late you to stay up, no matter how stressed you are I promise that the 'Never Miss' mantra will get you where you want to go.

It'll be the hardest, simplest thing you've ever done.
