Why I Coach

Stuff like this is why I love to coach. Coach Smith was a man that recognized the appeal of a game and the lofty position that athletes place their leader. Coach Smith then used that dynamic, selflessly, to make people's lives better. Even in preparing to pass, Coach Smith was 'all in' for his boys. Imagine Michael Jordan receiving this letter. MJ is a billionaire, literally. Read that again; billionaire with a 'b'! He did not need $200 for dinner. He did need one last reminder of how much his coach cared for him. I'm pretty sure MJ went somewhere and cried. I know I want to. And that, is why Coach Smith's final expression to his players was worth immeasurably more than $200; and that is why I coach.
